The Problem.

The shelf life of a blood bag is fewer than 40 days. And when dwindling donation rates threatened
the blood supply of Central Texas, time was short, budgets were slim, and The Red Cross
needed more donors, more frequently.

The Solution.

Inkless pens. Because there's nothing more frustrating than running out of ink when you're trying to write.
Except, maybe, running out of blood when you're trying to save lives.

We placed canisters of these inkless pens at
cashier counters, bank lobbies and registration tents around Austin.
And at a moment of genuine frustration,
potential donors were reminded that some refills are a matter of life and death.
